In October, for the kids' birthday, Granny Becky, Grandma Evey and Papu Al came to Cancun. There were trips to Isla Mujeres, a day on the bay at Akumal, seafood paella, and lots of playing in the pool.

- Gran Caribe Real-- not classy, pleasant beach, noisy clientelle
- Hyatt Caribe-- Very easy access, pleasant pool, great bathroom for changing in, fair beach
- Intercontinental-- Powder white sand, tough security, difficult to get into, calm waters facing North
- Le Meridian-- Great pools, fancy, beautiful beach
- RIU (main)-- rocky beach, easy entry, enormous, noisy and smelly
- Royal-- Wristbands, difficult to get into, pounding waterful into the pool, adults only
- Westin-- Mariachi Band, fancy, great lobby, nice pools and beach
